There is a meaningful role here for you
Vibrant Health Advocates – Lyra is a community organisation in the fullest sense — built by local people, run by local people, for the people of Cumbernauld and North Lanarkshire. Whether you have personal experience of diabetes, professional skills you would like to contribute, or simply a few hours a month to spare, every volunteer who joins us, every donation we receive, and every partnership we form allows us to reach more people and deliver more of the practical, life-changing support this community needs.
Built by local people, for local people
Every contribution — large or small, practical or financial — makes a direct difference to people living with diabetes in Cumbernauld. We are a small organisation with a big heart, and we take every offer of support seriously.
Volunteer
We are always looking for warm, reliable people to help facilitate workshops, support peer groups, assist with administration, or share professional skills in areas like communications, finance, or health. Full training and ongoing support are provided, and many of our most valued volunteers started as participants in our programmes.
Donate
Every pound donated to Vibrant Health Advocates – Lyra goes directly into delivering free workshops and support for people with diabetes in Cumbernauld. A gift of £25 covers the ingredients for a full Cook Well, Live Well session; £100 funds a month of Peer Support Circle facilitation for up to ten people.
Partner With Us
We welcome partnerships with local businesses, faith communities, housing associations, GP practices, and public sector bodies who share our commitment to health equity in North Lanarkshire. Whether through venue hosting, payroll giving, referral pathways, or in-kind support, there are many ways to work alongside us.
What volunteering actually looks like
Our volunteers come from all walks of life. Some are retired health professionals who want to keep contributing. Some are people who attended our programmes and found them transformative. Some are community members who simply have a few hours to spare and a genuine desire to be useful. What they all share is warmth, reliability, and a willingness to turn up.
We provide full induction training, regular volunteer meetups, and ongoing support from our co-ordinator. We ask for a minimum commitment of a few hours a month, though many volunteers end up doing more because they enjoy it. We cover all reasonable expenses including travel to sessions across the Cumbernauld area.
Volunteer roles include workshop facilitator support, peer circle co-facilitation, administration and communications, fundraising and events, and professional skills (health, finance, communications, IT). We also welcome people with lived experience of diabetes who want to contribute that experience in a structured way.

What your support makes possible
As a small charity delivering free programmes to people who need them, every donation makes a tangible difference. We have no endowment and no large institutional funder — we depend on a mix of grants, community fundraising, and individual giving to keep our work going.
We are transparent about how donations are used, and we are happy to provide a breakdown on request. If you are considering a larger gift or a regular standing order, please get in touch to speak with our co-ordinator directly.
